"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough." -The Notebook
Over the past year I have been working on stylistic changes and really figuring out exactly who I want to be as a photographer. Exactly a day after when I was able to put this into words, Mara contacted me about her and John's engagement photographs. It's quite amazing how this world's energy works. John and Mara were basically the exact replica of what I want my brand to move into. From the first contact I was beyond excited to be able to work with them.
John and Mara met in Korea while teaching English. They plan on getting married back in the U.S. but they wanted their engagement photos to represent their lives together here in Korea.
They LOVE hiking and so we decided to head to the famous Mudeung Mountain here in Gwangju (which also happens to be the place where he popped the question). Although the leaves had not quite changed color just yet, we had some gorgeous autumn light to play around with and to set the mood: some Red Hot Chilli Peppers playing in the background ;)
The couple also wanted to incorporate Korean architecture in their photographs and so we headed to the Traditional culture center at the base of the mountain to make the most of the beautiful autumn sunset.
John and Mara you were an absolute pleasure to work with! Thank you so much for trusting me enough even though you knew I was going through some stylistic changes. I had a magical afternoon with you both and it's one of the shoots that will stick in my memory for a long time to come! I absolutely envy your wedding photographer but I know it's going to be an awesome day for you both! I wish you many years of love and happiness! Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
