“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”
To be quite honest 2015 was an incredibly tough year for me both personally and professionally. Not to be the Debbie downer of the year in review posts (also, sorry to all the Debbies of the world having their name used like this), but I would be lying if I painted a picture of me just happily snapping away with my camera.
I set out this year to grow my business and as they say, be careful what you wish for because while business was incredible for me it came with a price: I had to buy more gear, I had to learn more and very quickly at that, I suddenly didn't have much time for anything or anyone anymore, I had to learn how to stay creative at every shoot. It all was very overwhelming and took its toll. Some relationships were hurt and others were lost along the way. To pretty much sum it up 2015 was quite a life changing year.
However, looking back at all the photographs I was able to make throughout the year I feel incredibly grateful. I feel grateful to have learned so much not only in my craft but in life. I'm grateful to have changed for the better, to have reached my goals. I feel grateful for the immense support I received from family and friends. I am thankful for new relationships that were formed and although letting go of others was really hard, I am thankful for the strength to be able to do so.
Being apart of all these important events in peoples' lives is a beautiful honour and I thank each and every person who invited me into those special times. I said good bye to 2015 with a heart filled to the brim of happiness, love and mostly gratitude. Thank you clients, family and friends! I look forward to another year where I get to grow, make beautiful images and most of all to have the same feeling at the end of the year as I do now. Happiness.
